Welcome to The Painted Cottage!

The Painted Cottage is born of 2 friends' desire to create, decorate, and help beautify the world one small town at a time!

Anita and Amanda met in the small village of Mont Vernon, New Hampshire almost four years ago.  From wildly different backgrounds we have grown to become close friends who share many things in common.  Through our blog and new shoppe we hope to now share our passion with you!

A dream of ours has always been to have our own shops that we can design from the ground up.  While a full on retail store isn't in the cards yet, we are starting in a much smaller, but equally beautiful room inside Robin's Egg in Milford, NH.  In this first post you can follow us on our journey in turning a small dark closet of a room to a bright, airy, cottage styled showroom.

~ OUR SPACE ... the beginning ~

Welcome to our darling space.  The first thing we knew had to go in the room were the super dark green/gray walls that closed in the space.  We chose a soothing watery aqua green color to freshen things up.  A mere three coats of this color really did wonders in the room and set the palette of our whole design scheme.

We had a vision for this room and the mantle (on loan from Robin - the owner of Robin's Egg) helped create the illusion of an interior wall.

A curtain rod with sheers and a vintage window hung above pull together the look.  We have so many ideas for accessorizing this wall for all the seasons!  Oh the possibilities!

The overall theme of items is vintage and Shabby Chic.  But don't let those words sway you.  Our handmade treasures, re purposed furniture,  and found objects can mix nicely with a variety of styles.  Over the last weeks, we have been adding inventory to our space, and we are almost ready to open our doors!

This was a little sneak peek of our lovely space while we busily prepare for our
Grand Opening on February 16 from 5-7:30PM
for the Souhegan Valley Chamber of Commerce Business
After Hours Event.
All is welcome, and we would love for you to stop by our
Painted Cottage and say hello to us!

In addition there will be raffles, discount shopping and refreshments offered.

Thanks for joining us on our new adventure, and stay tuned to our new blog for many exciting things ahead!  Be sure to bookmark us and you can also find us on Facebook listed as "ThePaintedCottageNH"

Stay tuned ...

~
